MOTW, Mytharc, synopsis, and upcoming movie updates--it's all here. Dare I say this is your one stop shop for all things X, if you dare to sit through an hour or so of odd musings.

A very rapid skimming, nutshell-like approach to the first informant on the X-files: Deep Throat. Get some background info on the character, the actor, and the cultural/political significance behind the name. As usual, you'll get some random stuff thrown in there as well as some updates on both GA and DD.

Sorry that the audio is okay in parts and not so much in others. Apparently mics and I are not very good friends at the moment. Also, please take a minute to look at the well made Deep Throat video I sampled at the beginning of the episode. Full credit goes to anelissetno1!

In addition, some rapid fire response (more or less) on what the future of the podcast will be (don't worry--nothing dies on the X-files). A rundown of what GA and DD have or haven't been up to since the last podcast and some additional commentary on additional X-Files paraphernalia. Oh yeah btw the boards are all aflurry. Looks like Fox finally leaked a scene minus a pesky little bee. Go check it out. I sense another podcast episode centering around this new development...<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-337393">

A rundown of what GA and DD have or haven't been up to since the last podcast and some additional commentary on additional X-Files paraphernalia. Oh yeah btw the boards are all aflurry. Looks like Fox finally leaked a scene minus a pesky little bee. Go check it out. I sense another podcast episode centering around this new development...</itunes:summary>

The follow-up to the part I Anderson filmography recap/tribute. The title for this episode comes from an interview she did a few years back when promoting Straightheads. It's a title that is quite appropriate in my opinion, because of her complex nature and chameleon-like performances on television, film, and on the stage. This particular episode examines her more recent theater work as well as the 2007 BBC production of 84 Charring Cross Road. Towards the end, some snippets of songs with Scully/Gillian references are showcased.

I also take the chance to address the current media speculation going on with his recent entrance to rehab. Laying all rumors aside, I address what I like and dislike about the man. He is human after all, and he has the right to make mistakes. While I am no Bree Sharp singing "David Duchovny why won't you love me," I do have a soft spot for the guy and hope that he makes a swift and complete recovery.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-291065">

This is the last season of the landmark series. While the initial attempt had been to hand the torch over the Reyes and Doggett, the formula didn't work. Instead we get a wrap up of the show,a somewhat bungled attempt to explain the new super soldiers, and the much anticipated return of agent Mulder. Will the two rogue agents get to ride off into the sunset or do the sinister forces of the government have other plans in store for them? The pivotal courtroom drama of the finale is supposed to wrap things up...but I think it raised more questions than anything else. Gotta love the X-files. For many of us our world came to a momentarily standstill on May 19, 2002 not knowing what would happen to M&S. Thanks to IWTB we have a better idea now...but are we still doomed in 2012? Should we anticipate XF3 for an answer?<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-279797">

IWTB review II post anger & some Mulder and Scully lovin'

<itunes:subtitle>A two part episode to further clarify and justify the reasons behind my discontent with the IWTB mov</itunes:subtitle>

A two part episode to further clarify and justify the reasons behind my discontent with the IWTB movie. (The second viewing was somewhat cathartic) After an initial heat of the moment recording, I realized I could be more objective--so here you go. See or rather hear again: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let me reiterate that the MSR was in grand form or ace as they say across the pond. If anything, these two lovable kids make the movie worthwhile and offer a bittersweet send off to the fans.

I've been promising an episode about what I love about Mulder and Scully. Here's a brief stab at it. JJ Abrams, Michael Bay, Judd Apatow--eat your hearts out, you can never touch these two. Finally, it's a clarification of why this X-Phile is a life-long, fully committed die-hard fan and gives nothing but props to the show (but I still have to call it when they muck up--which they do on occasion).

Just realized I forgot to discuss the Easter egg treats. Alas, I will need a third episode for IWTB movie commentary and misc. observations...<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-269093">

I want to Believe movie review: D'oh!

Just like Homer Simpson would say after a bone headed move: D'Oh! (And that's putting it mildly).

So after two viewings of this movie and lackluster reviews all I can say is that now more than ever I don't believe in Chris Carter anymore. I feel shortchanged, abused, and massively let down. Was the movie dreadfully horrid? No, but it didn't live up to the "it's one scary mother..." that we were being told. Despite the fact that it was as PG-13 rating, it was pretty lite on the gruesomeness. I appreciated this movie for its intentions of addressing questions about morality, free will, and redemption; however, I despise it for its execution. The fleshing out of the plot was mediocre at best. The only saving grace? Our knights in shining armor: Mulder and Scully. While Duchovny was great and got to do a lot of action scenes, Anderson really got to sink her teeth into some meatier dramatic moments. These two are the only ones that didn't let us down. I officially hate 20th Century Fox now and am also developing a massive dislike for the TDK and all things Judd Apatow. In the end this movie isn't bad, but it ain't X-Files worthy either. Chris and Frank, you messed up royally here. Way to blow this opportunity. Let me put it out there: there will be NO 3rd X-Files film, and if the opportunity ever arises, I hope GA and DD turn it down! Watch the film at least once. In truth, it does improve a tad upon a second viewing.

Just as a final note to fans: stay until the end of the credits (which Unkle's Broken sounds awesome in surround sound) to see a cute and unexpected farewell for fans. I just heard Portishead's Sour Times. Part of the lyrics are "Nobody loves me it's true. Nobody loves me like you..." That perfectly shows how critics miss out on what we the fans get. We keep loving Mulder and Scully better than anyone can or ever will. RIP X-Files, you will be missed!<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-267235">

So here's season 8 and much to my chagrin, I had to do a semi-coherent recap of what happened during this travesty of a season. Let's see: Mulder is still abducted, Doggett is partnered up with Scully, Scully is pregnant forever, Replicants are the new invaders, Mulder is dead, Monica Reyes (shudders) is introduced, guess what? Mulder's not dead, Scully has baby finally, and I forget the rest. Bad season but still slightly better than season 9. Watch it at your own risk. At least the shippers sort of liked it. Coming up next season: dead beat Mulder and Scully drops another 40 IQ points and cries every 5 minutes. What the hell happened to the Mulder and Scully I knew. and who are these impostors?<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-266530">

Another year, another season. Season 6 starts off on new turf (CA) and a new "feel". While there were some notable episodes in this season, it was lackluster both in standout storytelling, an area in which it had previously excelled, and completely annihilated the mythology of the last 5 seasons. What happened Chris? Did you lose your footing? On a fun note, we do get DD's directorial debut in the Unnatural (which I accidentally skipped over in the ep.), cutesy MSR stories almost straight out of fan fiction heaven, and hmmm that's about it. Check it out, it's a good relatively solid season, but does occasionally verge on mediocrity for X-Files standards.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-261973">

<itunes:subtitle>The sun is setting on the empire of the X-Files, so enjoy the beauty while it lasts! Yes my friends,</itunes:subtitle>

The sun is setting on the empire of the X-Files, so enjoy the beauty while it lasts! Yes my friends, this is the last grand season of the show before it went "all Hollywood" in California. This is the last season of coherent mythology stories, scary episodes, and the eerie enviornment of Vancouver that we've all come to love. With this season comes the resolution to Scully's terminal illness, Mulder's refueling of his beliefs, a new form of resistance, and even more reasons to hate Krycek. Last but not least, let's not forget that this is the season that gives us: 1) Kung Fu Scully & Mulder with his dirty nurses 2) Bad Blood ('nuff said) 3) the Post-Modern Prometheus. Can any more surprises be hurled at an X-Phile? Wasn't season 4 shocking enough? Nah, you ain't seen nothing yet--and that essentially, exactly the way it happened.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-257850">

<itunes:subtitle>This is the season where the X-Files comes into its own, and goes full force into the mythology arc </itunes:subtitle>

This is the season where the X-Files comes into its own, and goes full force into the mythology arc we have all come to know and love. While the days of Scully fine-tuning her "bob" and Mulder wearing bad ties still persists, we get scary, creepy, and funny characters--but always with a shocking surprise. Scully goes missing, Mulder goes beserk trying to find her and feeling guilty the entire time. Now both main characters have a personal connection to the X-files. Regardless of Scully's skeptical nature, how can she rationally explain her abduction...and how can anyone get over Flukeman? So long to Deep Throat and "howdy" to the brand new informant, "X". (That's why Mulder does the masking tape x on his window). Surprises galore await in this solidifying second season.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-252366">

Surprises galore await in this solidifying second season.</itunes:summary>

Yet another of the seasons of the X-files during the "Gilded Age". Relive the classic MOTW episodes of Home, Small Potatoes, Leonard Betts, and that talking tattoo in Never Again. Scully deals with the consequences of her abduction during a season of tragedy, surprise, and betrayal. Now, more than ever, Mulder faces an uphill battle against the shady characters of the Syndicate. Will it all prove too much for the sole crusader to endure? (For all those shippers: do Mulder and Scully almost kiss...AGAIN?). If you were to be abandoned on a deserted island and could only take one DVD--this might very well be it--it gives the stunning season 3 a run for its money.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-247849">
